Vapour systems for large-scale industrial odour control
Unlike masking agents that simply cover smells, our vapour systems use active deodorisation technology to destroy odour particles in the air. This waterless technology is ideal for high-airflow environments, such as solid waste facilities and large factories, where it provides a dry, invisible barrier against nuisance emissions.
-
Molecular neutralisation: Destroys odour compounds rather than masking them.
-
Waterless operation: No potable water supply or complex plumbing required.
-
Low maintenance: No nozzles to block, reducing onsite servicing needs.
-
Large area coverage: Suitable for site boundaries with each unit covering up to 500 linear metres.
- Safe and non-toxic: Uses EPA-approved, biodegradable formulations safe for workers.
When to best use a vapour system for odour control
Vapour systems are best suited to sites where odours are diffuse, widespread, or cannot be captured for ducted treatment. They provide an effective odour control solution for large, open industrial environments.
-
Landfill cells, wastewater lagoons, or open processing areas
-
Sites with multiple odour release points
-
Situations where an enclosure would disrupt operations
-
Industrial environments with mixed odour compounds
-
Facilities needing rapid deployment with minimal infrastructure
How VapourGard™ technology works
Our VapourGard™ systems utilise a unique process that moves air across a tank of specialised deodoriser to create a dry vapour.
Odour source
VapourGard™ is used where odours originate from outdoor or large indoor areas and cannot be captured for ducted treatment. Typical sources include wastewater lagoons, landfills, composting areas and industrial processing sites.
-
Diffuse odours across open or wide areas
-
Multiple or changing odour release points
-
Sites where enclosure or extraction is impractical
Treatment mechanism
The system releases a controlled vapour containing the active solution QuikAir® 0900V. Once airborne, the vapour mixes with odour molecules and breaks them down in the air phase, without leaving residue behind.
The formulation contains non-ionic surfactants and terpene-based compounds. These are designed to work across a wide range of common industrial odour groups.
Neutralisation point
VapourGard™ systems are typically installed around the perimeter of a facility. Vapour is released through perforated tubing, allowing it to disperse into the surrounding air and interact with odours as they migrate off-site.
This approach allows odour treatment to occur before it reaches neighbouring properties or sensitive receptors.
System configuration and operation
Each VapourGard™ system includes a blower, solution storage tank, distribution piping and an electrical control box with electronic level monitoring. The system operates without the need for water.
Units are available in multiple sizes to suit different site footprints, with power supplied via single-phase or three-phase electricity depending on system capacity.

Proven performance and results for vapour odour control
VapourGard™ is an industrial vapour system designed to manage odour at wastewater and trade waste sites. Performance is assessed through operational reliability, compliance support and reduced off-site odour impact.
What performance looks like on site
In practice, VapourGard™ systems are installed to treat diffuse odours before they leave the site boundary. System performance depends on correct specification, professional installation and ongoing operation.
Timeframes and operational response
3 months
Fence-line odour levels are heavily reduced, minimising or ceasing community complaints. Operators often report improved on-site air quality and better employee comfort.
6 months
System dosing and vapour delivery stabilise odour emissions under variable weather conditions, supporting consistent boundary compliance and efficient chemical use.
12 months
Long-term performance is demonstrated through stable operation and continued suitability as site conditions or odour profiles change.
How VapourGard™ success is measured
Success is measured using site-specific operational indicators aligned with council expectations, environmental regulation and customer requirements.

VapourGard™ legal compliance and regulatory support
CleanaWater works with customers to specify systems that align with regulatory requirements and relevant industry standards.
Related odour control systems
CleanaWater offers a range of odour control solutions to suit different odour sources, site layouts and compliance requirements. Vapour systems can also be combined with other treatment systems where appropriate.
Misting Systems
Misting systems are suited to targeted odour treatment at specific emission points. They are commonly applied to treat open diffuse odour sources among a range of industries.
Surface Treatment
Surface treatment systems apply a contact neutraliser directly to odour-generating surfaces or materials. They are effective where odours originate from exposed waste, sludge or wastewater surfaces and provide an immediate heavy reduction in odours post application.
Case studies
What our clients say about working with us
I have been a plumber for over thirty years and installed many water treatment systems. CleanaWater systems are by far the best for quality and reliability. They provide excellent customer service, from sales staff right through to expert advice and technical help. Can't thank CleanaWater enough!
Iain Paterson, Multilple Trades and Maintenance
We have seen a fantastic improvement since the OdourPro VapourGard™ system was installed 3 years ago. The system mitigates the heavy odours which are released from the site, which has improved conditions for our staff and almost completely eliminated complaints from local residents and businesses
Glenn Claverie, Select Civil
The whole process was very simple, the sales and technical support was great, when needed contact was made easily for assistance during construction and the finished product works and looks fantastic, all in all working with the CleanaWater team to purchase our new Portable Wash Bay was a trouble free process
Doug Neil, Stihl Sales and Service Centre Coffs Harbour
The purchasing of our oil separator, from obtaining a quote through to delivery, was made extremely easy through CleanaWater, the staff are easy to deal with and make the whole process hassle-free, as well as supplying a quality product. I would highly recommend CleanaWater products in the future.
Bret Sheehan, Surefire Plumbing Services
The VapourGard™ system is a great alternative to the other odour suppression systems out there. The unit is easy to use and maintain, does not need a portable water source to dilute the chemical and has a low chemical usage which cuts down on cost.
Nicholas Bhugon, SITA Australia
CleanaWater have been very helpful in getting the solution ordered and out the door to us as quickly as possible. All this in the midst of supply chain issues globally. It’s nice when things still, just, work!
Tom Filipcic, FUCHS Lubricants (Australasia) Pty. Ltd.
In combination with a wide range of operational controls, we have found that complaints from our neighbours have significantly reduced since the VapourGard was installed.

Frequently asked questions
How does the vapour process ensure safety and durability on industrial sites?
Safety is our highest priority; our vapour formulations are non-toxic and biodegradable, ensuring no risk to staff or the surrounding environment. The VapourGard™ unit is a high-quality, Australian-made and designed for maximum durability in harsh conditions. Because we manufacture each system using robust components, it remains a reliable solution for long-term industrial projects.
Can CleanaWater tailor a vapour system to a specific project?
Yes, we specialise in tailoring every project to meet specific site requirements and regulations. Whether you are a facility manager or a site owner, our knowledgeable engineering team works with you to specify the exact details of the application. This ensures the systems installed provide excellent odour neutralisation for a wide range of industries and applications, ensuring regulatory compliance.
What maintenance schedule is required for these systems?
One of the most innovative features of our vapour technology is its low-maintenance requirement. Unlike misting, there are no nozzles to clog, so you do not need to maintain a complex cleaning schedule to prevent blockages. Routine checks usually focus on chemical levels to ensure continuous ionic absorption of odours, backed by our nationwide ongoing technical support.
Does the system meet Australian certification and AQIS standards?
CleanaWater is a long-established Australian provider with ISO-certified quality and environmental management systems. Our vapour solutions are designed to comply with Australian standards and can be configured to meet specific AQIS (Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry) requirements for quarantine or environmentally sensitive areas. This certification ensures your project remains fully compliant with legal and regulatory obligations.
