Ferrous Chloride Dosing Units
Trust Ferrogard® ferrous chloride dosing units to reduce odour by up to 95%
Cleanawater's ferrous chloride dosing units prevent the formation of H₂S at its cause, bonding with sulphides in solution to form a stable precipitate.
Ferrogard® units reduce odorous gas emissions and prevent corrosion of wastewater infrastructure, saving you maintenance time and money.
We also provide specialist knowledge in odour reduction and ongoing client support via our consultation, maintenance, monitoring and chemical delivery services.

How it works
A biochemical reaction occurring in in any sewer network produces Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S), the gas responsible for "bad egg" odours. Ferrous chloride dosing reduces odour by initialising a different chemical reaction. The ferrous chloride binds with sulphides in the wastewater to form a stable, insoluble precipitate.
Benefits to clients
Unlike capture and treat strategies, our Ferrogard® ferrous chloride dosing units prevent the formation of odours, thereby properly treating the cause of the problem for a sustainable long-term solution.
Our ferrous chloride dosing systems don't just control odours by up to 95%; they also play a crucial part in wastewater system maintenance by preventing H₂S corrosion of infrastructure while also keeping your workers safe from gases and complying with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations. That’s why they’re a top choice for your wastewater treatment plant.

Product details
Functional description
Cleanawater Ferrogard® ferrous chloride dosing units typically include a storage tank, dosing pumps, and controls. The ferrous chloride dosing is flow paced with the dosing pumps linked up to the wastewater pumps. The dosing point can be at the pump station wet well or the rising main.
Construction
PE or uPVC are used to make the storage tank and all other components of the Ferrogard® dosing system in contact with the chemicals, as they are resistant to the product reagents. Choose from 3 security options to safeguard your system; a fenced compound, metal-clad enclosure or a concrete hut enclosure.
We recommend the use of a bunded unloading area for worker safety and environmental protection. Cleanawater Ferrogard® dosing units require power supply and potable water connections.
Chemical dosing agents
We use ferric or ferrous chloride in our Ferrogard® ferrous dosing units. At Cleanawater, we also provide a convenient chemical supply and delivery service.
Optional accessories
Ferrogard® ferrous chloride dosing units are available in a variety of sizes. Sulphide concentration and the wastewater flow rate determine the dose rate, which in turn will influence the necessary storage capacity of your dosing unit.
At Cleanawater, we offer an expert consultation service to help you ascertain the best treatment strategy for your site. Your dosing unit storage tank will be sized for six weeks of storage, to allow for monthly refills with a safe and convenient fill time buffer.
Compliance with legislation
All Cleanawater Ferrogard® ferrous chloride dosing products comply with AS3780 – 2008, The Storage and Handling of Corrosive Substances.
Containerised and customised solutions
Ferrogard® ferrous chloride dosing units can be constructed inside a shipping container and tested before easy transport to the site for quick "plug and play" functionality, facilitating trial or temporary dosing.
