Oil Water Separators For Service Stations

A sustainable solution to wastewater management

Key wastewater challenges for the service station industry

  • Petroleum products can leak or spill into water sources, causing pollution.
  • There are strict wastewater regulations in place about the discharge of water.
  • Oil can degrade water quality by reducing oxygen levels and harming aquatic life.
  • Wastewater treatment maintenance can be costly.
  • Oil and grease can accumulate in drainage systems, leading to clogs and backups.
  • Service stations are at risk of accidental spills during refuelling or maintenance.

Industry overview - managing oil discharge in service stations

An oil water separator is vital in the service station industry to meet environmental and regulatory compliance measures. This system can effectively mitigate the risk of oil and hydrocarbon contamination by removing these pollutants from wastewater generated through refuelling, maintenance, and other operational activities. In turn, this prevents water pollution and safeguards local water bodies from harm.

At Cleanawater, our oil water separators are designed to meet all discharge standards for oil and grease removal. With a quick and easy installation process, each oil water separator comes with non-emulsifying pumps, float switches and controllers – everything you need to get up and running. Our separators have capacities ranging from 1,000L to 5,000L nominal flow rates per hour, ensuring you get the most sustainable fit for your gas or service station.

Cleanawater’s service station industry solutions

Looking for an innovative solution that seamlessly treats wastewater and simplifies the discharge process. At Cleanawater, we offer innovative oil water separator systems that are sustainable and kinder to the environment. Ensure you’re meeting all water authority requirements by using our separators.

However, Cleanawater's service station solutions go beyond pollution prevention. Our state-of-the-art systems not only effectively remove pollutants but also enhance operational efficiency. By intercepting oil and contaminants before they can clog drainage systems, you can minimise maintenance requirements and associated downtime. This not only reduces operational disruptions but also results in cost savings over the long term.

Whether it's a small gas station or a larger service complex, our expertise ensures that each solution is designed to meet your specific requirements.

Understanding the oil water separation process

Step 1

Pre-treatment

Pre-treatment includes filling the separator with oily waste water that is usually generated through equipment and petroleum usage.

Step 2

Primary separation

Non-Emulsified oil droplets rise to the surface to form a floating layer of sludge. This starts the water clarification process.

Step 3

Coalescence

The water moves into a coalescing chamber equipped with specialised media packs that aid in oil removal.

Step 4

Secondary separation

The remaining free-floating oil and suspended solids continue to rise to the surface from the coalescing plate separators.

Step 5

Discharge

The clarified water from the oil water separator system now meets water authority regulations and can be discharged into natural water bodies.
