Is your site prepared for the rainy Aussie summer?

With La Niña underway in the tropical Pacific, this year’s Aussie summer is set to be hot but wet. Warm rainy weather brings its own unique challenges when it comes to odour management. Humidity, dampness and soaring heat can, let’s face it, be a recipe for stink. This is particularly problematic for the landfill, composting and solid waste management industry, with waste exposed to weather conditions. Odours are a nuisance but they can also be harmful to people, animals and the environment. To keep everybody safe, abide by legislation and environmental regulations, and do our part for the planet, it’s vital to keep bad smells under control.

What is the solution to your odour problems?

The VapourGard system uses innovative technology from Europe and the US to eliminate 90 to 100% of airborne odour. The system is the lowest maintenance odour control product on the market and is made with large indoor and outdoor sites in mind. For example, the Lucas Heights Resource Recovery Park in Sydney. The Park is one of Australia’s largest operating waste processing facilities, processing more than 625,000 tonnes of waste a year. It has two VapourGard VG 500 systems and a kilometre of diffuser pipe installed to help control odour. “The system mitigates the heavy odours which are released from the site, which has improved conditions for our staff and almost completely eliminated complaints from local residents and businesses,” said Site Manager, Glenn Claverie.

What makes the VapourGard system different?

Unlike systems using water, fragrance or neutralising oils, the VapourGard releases deodoriser converted to vapour form. What makes the system really cool is that the deodoriser vapour moves at the same speeds and in the same direction as odorous vapours. This allows the deodoriser to stay in the air for a much longer time, creating more opportunities for contact and deodorisation. A pipe is used to transport an air-stream filled with vaporised deodoriser around the perimeter of the area that needs to be deodorised.
